Expand & Explore Series

The Expand and Explore format is designed for students with prior yoga experience and is ideal for graduates of Yoga for Beginners courses. An eight-week series allows participants to expand their personal practice in a supportive group setting.  Each series focuses on a specific style and/or theme to broaden your yoga experience.

While all Expand and Explore series will provide participants with a rewarding yoga experience, the level of physical challenge desired varies from student to student. To help a student choose the series that’s best for each of them, we have given a physical challenge rating for each series of Easy, Moderate or Strong.

                       Three Added Bonuses!!

At the end of the series you’ll receive full credit for classes missed and not made up during the series (ie: $10 for each missed class). You may apply this credit to yoga classes or merchandise at the Westfield Yoga Center “Yoga Mall”.

Register for a 2nd eight-week series that overlaps the 1st and receive a 20% off the fee for the 2nd series.

While enrolled in an eight-week series, you may attend additional classes from the drop-in schedule for half price, only $6 per class! This half price bonus does not apply to Expand and Explore classes attended on a drop in basis.

"Beyond the Basics"

Students will review basic postures, experience more challenging variations, and/or be guided into longer holdings of the poses.  Breathing exercises and deep relaxation are included in each class.  Teachers tailor sessions to group members while also providing adaptations for individual needs.

Gentle Yoga with Cheryl includes a variety of non-threatening yoga poses, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques in each class. Those recovering from an illness or dealing with chronic conditions find it a perfect combination of safe exercise and healing rest. Cheryl has a gift for making everyone feel happy to be in this gentle yoga class.

"Strong and Deep"

         Challenge your body and strengthen your spirit

In Strong and Deep classes, various postures (some quite challenging!) and longer holdings of poses are interspersed with flow sequences and breathing exercises.  Further, opportunities arise for personal posture flows.  A well-earned period of deep relaxation restores your energy and soothes your spirit.

        "Flow Into Stillness"

 

Expand the depth of your physical practice through Vinyasa Yoga, a flowing form of yoga linking movement with breath, creating meditation in motion.  Each class will end with Yoga Nidra, an extended period of deep relaxation. Explore this ancient technique where deep stillness helps to release blockages in the body that show up as tension, stress and ill health.

           "Yoga Core"

 

Yoga Core focuses on strengthening the central corset of the body, including the abs, obliques, erector spinae, gluteals, and muscles of the upper back and chest. This can be used to help reshape participants' problem spots, or strengthen and support the musculature that will help to prevent low back concerns and postural issues as we age. Learn poses for muscle-blasting and healing workouts.

"Lunchtime Yoga"

 

 

Have only a short time to exercise? Join Sally for this 45 minute lunchtime yoga class. Forget the stress of the morning and get energized for the afternoon. Come every Wednesday for your mid-week pick me up!

Realize Ease and Comfort
In Your Yoga Practice

    

This series is designed for those familiar with the basics of yoga, but would like to gain more ease and comfort in their practice.  Any struggles in physical postures detract from the experience of ease and comfort, called sthira and sukha in yoga.

     In each class, Genea will lead you through various warm-ups and postures plus highlight a chosen posture for attention to the specific details of alignment.  A satisfying relaxation will complete your class.

     Join this group to improve your alignment and deepen your practice.  Discover new found ease and comfort for yourself.

A Gentle Yoga Program for Back and Neck Pain Relief
This gentle six-week yoga program is designed to relax and strengthen the entire back and neck, helping to ease chronic pain. Yoga engages the whole person, working slowly but steadily to gently stretch spinal muscles, increase intervertebral space and improve spinal mobility.  Many back problems are caused by poor posture or improper use of the spine while lifting, standing or sitting. To be effective, back care cannot just be confined to the yoga studio one day a week.  Relaxation techniques and yoga      exercises will be taught to allow participants to practice at home during and subsequent to the series.  As muscle groups become more balanced and flexible, you will naturally realign your posture, helping to alleviate discomfort and pain. Relaxation techniques are taught as well, allowing students to experience relief from the     mental pain that often accompanies physical pain.
