What Does an Expand and Explore Class Mean?
The Expand and Explore format is designed for students with prior yoga experience and is ideal for graduates of our Yoga for Beginners series. Expand and Explore classes allow participants to expand their personal practice in a supportive group setting. Each class focuses on a specific style and/or theme to broaden your yoga experience. While all these classes provide participants with a rewarding yoga experience, the level of physical challenge desired varies from student to student. Choose from Gentle, Beyond the Basics, Strong and Deep or Yoga and Yoga Nidra.

Class Descriptions
"Gentle Yoga"
A
variety of yoga poses, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques
will be explored each week. This class is a combination of safe
exercise and healing rest, perfect for those recovering from an illness,
dealing with chronic conditions, or needing time to rest and relax.
"Beyond the Basics"
Students will review basic postures, experience more challenging variations, and/or be guided into longer holdings of the poses. Breathing exercises and deep relaxation are included in each class. Teachers tailor sessions to group members while also providing adaptations for individual needs.
Challenge your body and strengthen your spirit
In Strong and Deep classes, participants hold poses for prolonged periods while maintaining an inner focus. Prior yoga experience is required in order to move safely with minimal prompts for alignment. Opportunities arise for personal posture flows. For restoration and integration, guided relaxation completes each session
"Yoga and Yoga Nidra"
You will explore different aspects of yoga and yoga nidra through guided postures, pranayama, and deep relaxation. Come to relieve tensions and detoxify both physically and emotionally, accelerating your body’s natural healing and promoting optimum health. Learn how to enter into the deepest levels of stillness and tranquility, returning to your innate state of unity. Suitable for everyone!
"Vigorous Yoga"
This Vigorous Yoga class is designed to challenge your strength and flexibility within the framework of a total yoga experience. It consists of warm-ups - followed by vinyasa (posture) flow sequences interspersed with difficult yoga poses and inversions such as the wheel, the crow, side-planks and headstands. Proper breathing and mental focus are emphasized, and adaptations are introduced when necessary. A meditative cool-down completes the yoga experience.
Participants should possess the strength, flexibility and appropriate cardio-vascular health necessary to participate
in this challenging class.
"Restorative Yoga"
In Restorative Yoga you are guided through gentle yoga movements, breathing exercises and deep relaxation for a wonderfully nurturing experience. Supportive props ease you into poses and help you to relax completely. Physical tensions are relieved and your mind is calmed, allowing for deep healing. This class is suitable for all levels of ability and also complements a regular yoga practice.
Class Fees
For Westfield Yoga Center Members
Become a WYC Member by enrolling in an eight week block of classes in any of the Expand and Explore classes, at a rate of only $80.
Added bonuses for WYC Members

At the end of an eight-week block, you’ll receive $10 credit for each class missed and not made up at another Expand and Explore class. You may apply this credit to future yoga classes or merchandise at the WYC “Yoga Mall”.

Drop-In to other Expand and Explore classes for only $10 per class.
- Sign-up for a 2nd eight-week block of classes that overlaps the 1st and pay only $64 for the second block of classes. The full fee of $80 is paid for the 1st block of classes.
