Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do yoga even though I am not flexible, “in-shape”, thin, young, or strong?

Absolutely! Yoga is for everybody. We all start exactly where we are; there are no pre-requisites. Practicing yoga will help you to look and feel your best. So come just the way you are right now, but come!

What benefits can I expect to receive from yoga?
Individual results vary. The more consistently you practice, the more the results will compound in your life.
A partial list of potential benefits follows: Relaxation, Calmness, Peace, Flexibility, Toning, Strengthening, Mental clarity, Improved memory, Concentration, Better Sleep, Lowered blood pressure, Hormonal balance, Reduced cholesterol, Less pain, Weight loss, Enhanced balance, Improved coping, Better breathing, Less depression, More energy, Higher sense of satisfaction with life.
In short, yoga will help you to look and feel your best. Indeed, it will make you the best you possible!

What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that you can breathe, and move, and stretch in freely. Either long pants or shorts are fine. Garments may be either fitted or loose, whichever you prefer. Don’t worry about foot gear; we leave our shoes in the waiting room and socks may also be removed during class.

Do I need to bring anything?
Just an open mind and a willing spirit! Yoga mats, pillows, blankets etc. are available for your use. We have a “Yoga Mall” should you choose to purchase equipment for your personal use.

Can my young child attend class with me?
Child-care is not available on site. Since yoga becomes a meditation-in-motion, it is not safe to have little ones in the class. School aged children should come to either children’s yoga or family yoga classes. These classes are designed to meet their developmental needs. Series for children’s or family yoga are held at various times throughout the year. Teenagers are welcome in the regular classes; Level 1 classes for beginners or Level 2 for those teens with yoga experience or permission of the instructor.

How big are the classes?
Numerous factors contribute to the size of each class. Due to the drop-in nature of our ongoing classes, we cannot predict how many students will be in attendance. The maximum number of students is twenty-five. Whether small or large, each group generates its own unique energy. There is assurance of personal attention in all classes.

Is there anything else I need to know?
Cell phones and beepers are turned off during class so as to foster an inner focus for yourself and others. Also, please refrain from using heavily scented colognes or perfumes. If you are currently dealing with an injury or any type of medical condition, please consult your doctor and inform your instructor.
